What happened in our area that would cause damage to my home?

The recent storm that hit our area caused significant damage to many homes in our area. Golf ball to softball size hail ranging from 1 inch to 4 inch in diameter along with strong winds means you may have sustained damages. This is where Community Builders Inc. can help!

How did hail damage my siding and guttering systems?

Damage to vinyl siding will normally be shown by visual breaks, cracks or holes in the siding product. Normally if these items are not present, your siding has not been damaged. Aluminum siding on the contrary shows damage in other ways. Large hail will produce dents throughout the entire elevation of aluminum siding. Even smaller hail with high velocity crosswinds will produce dents large enough to cause significant damage to the aluminum. Even small dents are considered cosmetic damage by your insurance carrier and in most cases are covered under your property insurance policy. Hail causes similar damages to your aluminum guttering system also. Dents visible from hail are normally cosmetic, but in most cases are still covered by your insurance policy.

How did hail damage my roof?

Hail can damage your property in many ways. Hail damage to asphalt shingles can cause soft spots or bruising that may or may not be visible to the naked eye. Hail impacts will also tend to loosen the hard granules that make up the top surface of the shingle. In some cases hail will cause enough damage to break through the shingles felt matting and cause its fibers to be exposed. Another way to tell if hail has damaged your roof is by checking the roof vents. Hail will often cause dents or marks on the metal roof venting systems. If we find evidence of damage to the roof vents first, it usually means you may have sustained shingle damage also.

What is hail damage and how does it affect my home?

Hail is a large frozen raindrop that is produced by intense thunderstorms where snow and rain coexist. When large hail and strong winds exist near residential areas, homes may sustain considerable damage to roofing, siding, gutters, References, etc.

Am I obligated by signing a contract with Community Builders Inc.?

If the insurance company does not approve your home, there is no contract, and thus no cost to you. If the insurance company does approve your home, then Community Builders Inc. will repair your home for the insurance proceeds.

Will my insurance premiums go up if I file a claim for storm damage?

NO….in most cases. But, regardless if you file a claim or not, your insurance carrier will increase your premiums due to catastrophic events. Simply compare your rates three years ago until today???  You pay premiums for events that take place like this…do not be intimidated by your insurance agent or carrier when it comes time to file your claim on damage you are entitled too.

Will my insurance policy get canceled?

NO. Insurance companies realize you have NO CONTROL over a major storm that hit your area.  This is often referred to as an “Act of GOD” for most insurance companies. It will, however, ultimately depend on a variety of factors including past claim history.  If this is a concern of yours, we can assist in determining your decision by asking you a few simple questions.

Why does Community Builders Inc. Field Representative need to meet with the insurance adjustor, can’t I handle this insurance meeting myself?

Yes, however we strongly recommend homeowners from doing this….This meeting is the most critical part of the entire process.  Your lack of experience and insurance knowledge could affect your rights.  We highly recommend allowing our contractor to handle the meeting on your behalf.  We have over 20 years experience working with insurance companies, you won’t regret it!

How does Community Builders Inc. get compensated?

Community Builders Inc. is compensated by insurance proceeds from your insurance carrier.  We will conduct all insurance meetings, price negotiations, and insurance invoicing on your behalf in return for the production contract on your home.

What if my home is not approved? Will there be fees owed to Community Builders Inc.?

Definitely NOT! We work strictly from the insurance proceeds deemed prudent from your insurance company.

What are the costs for me?
